Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Breathtaking Penthouse At Holiday Towers! Stunning Views! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
