Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Caravelle Ocean Front Studio couples\/small children has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
