Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Carolina Grande Resort - 3BR Suite w\/ Balcony has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
