Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Pristine 3-Bedroom Condo, fitness room, WiFi in Fabulous Grand Atlantic Resort has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
