Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Close to beach, walk to shops. \nGourmet kitchen, pool, pet-friendly, 2 garages has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
