Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Coastal Bliss Ocean View 2BR Condo on 14th Floor has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
