Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Coastal Haven 3BR Oceanfront Condo Low Floor! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
