Rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cozy 2BR 3BD, loft style Condo in beautiful Surfside Beach, with pool & hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
