Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Direct Oceanfront 3 bedroom Condo - Compass Cove Mariner Tower 1415 has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
