Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Experience Coastal Living- B214 at Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
