Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Two bedroom home on the south end of Ocean Lakes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
