Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Fabulous in Kingston Plantation, Walk to Black Drum Brewhouse, Shops, Dining has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
