Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sand and Surf Beach House-Ocean Lakes\n5 Bedroom Family Beach House has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
