Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Family Friendly Beach House Blocks from Ocean has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
