Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the best rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. The Ranch:\nA Spacious 5-Bedroom Home with Pool in Quiet Neighborhood has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
