Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- To start, have your group select vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Short walk to the Beach! Great Deal! Resort Pool and Water Park! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
