Rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose the bestvacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Location, location!!! Ocean view free golf cart and jacuzzi, WIFI, Smart TV has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
