Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfectvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, email the host before you book the property. - Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
