Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
