Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To book the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Family Oceanfront Condo Located in North end of Myrtle Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
