Our top Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation home:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. ~Gorgeous~ Ocean View King Suite in Cabana Row~ has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
