Rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Gorgeous Ocean View King Suite w\/ Balcony + On-Site Pool has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
