Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. HOME, CLOSE TO ALL POPULAR ATTRACTIONS. 5-MINUTE DRIVING DISTANCE TO BEACHFRONT has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
