How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
