How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Peaceful condo in the center of Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
