Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group select trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Large Oceanfront 3 Bed Corner Unit (14th Floor) - by Luxury Beach Rentals has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
