Strategies to get the best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Laurel Court 315 in Kingston resort, Pools & Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
