Our top Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book the rightrental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Legends Golf - A Golfer's Retreat - Myrtle Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
