Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- To start, have your group select date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Life's a Beach II at a Place at the Beach V has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
