Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort 3rd floor studio has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for a great stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
