Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. River Oaks Unit 63C - Golf View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
