Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. New, Beautiful Decor, Meridian Plaza, Pools, Nice! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
