Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. KING Honeymoon Suite Pools at Caravelle Resort! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
