Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Pelican’s Watch Beachfront Condo with Ocean Views! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
