Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. BRAND NEW Ocean Lakes Beach Paradise Sleeps 10! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
