Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Amazing Large Oceanfront Sleeps (8) -2 bedroom 2bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
