Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New! Stunning Ocean View Penthouse Condo at Ocean Dunes Tower I, $300 FREE Activities Daily! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
