Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Newly Renovated 1 Bedroom Condo- Oceanfront Views! Boardwalk 1139 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
