Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the rightrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Newly updated 2 bed, 2 bath very close to the ocean. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
