Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Newly Updated Double Queen Suite-Sea Mist 51007 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
