Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Blue 303 - Oceanfront, Indoor Lazy River, Pool has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
