Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book the bestvacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site 1283 4BR\/3.5BA with outdoor seating area has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
