Tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Direct Oceanfront 3BR\/2BA with 20 water amenities has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
