Tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Lakefront 2 level Condo- Beach, Golf, Pools, Tennis, Barefoot Landing & more! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
