Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Getting the best value:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Rosie's Place - B21 is just like home! ???? has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
