Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Ocean Lakes - Site MH5 Spacious 3BR\/2BA Complimentary Golf Cart Included! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
