Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean View 2 Bedroom Apartment with Great Views Palace Resort 913 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
