Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Ocean View 2 Bedroom Apartment with Great Views Palace Resort 913 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
