Rental home booking tips:
Finding the best value:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean View King Suite! Perfect for 4 Guests! Sea Mist 50903 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
