Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Penthouse + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
