Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To find the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Bliss: Oceanfront Room 4th Floor has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
