Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with ocean view, central AC, W\/D, and access to pools & tennis has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
