Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Dream for our Beach Lovers has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
